Licensing

Like most lottery businesses conducting a bingo event needs a license. The only case when a license is not required is in “free fun bingo” which is played for the sake of the game only and has no other prizes or prize money. But in all other types of bingo there is an open agreement between the organizer of the bingo event and the players as to the nature of the game and the consideration that follows be it cash money or other prizes. Thus, the very objective of conducting a bingo event is essentially to make some profit. This is also true for any charitable organization, religious organizations or social organizations whose purpose is to raise funds.

Before conducting a bingo event one must have the capabilities and the knowledge of the lottery act in that particular country. The next step is to apply in writing on the application form obtained from the relevant websites. Here, an organization must state its name, address and the type of bingo game it is planning to conduct. For each type of bingo game there is an appropriate form to be filled. The details that are to be given may also include the statement that the group is a bonafide organization, its aims and objectives, the reasons or the need to raise funds, proper maintenance of records that give the correct details of the expenses incurred and the prize money disbursed. This is to ensure that no fraudulent activities are resorted to in the name of a bingo tournament.
